What Mistakes are Made

Let’s not mince words. Strategy matters a lot in business. But when I say strategy I either see people running for the hills (right after their eyes glazed over) or they can’t stop talking about it. :D 

The problem I see often is that many Entrepreneurs have been following gurus who promote “nitchizising (my word.)” Nitchisizing is when you insist that the one narrowly defined strategy you offer (your niche) will bring the buyer the desired results (often promised overnight and with no work.) And further proclaim that this one thing is the only thing you need.

I call BS.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. You must go to 30,000 feet to evaluate the terrain before you know where you want to land FIRST. And then your journey may continue to a few other places where you want to stop along the way. 

Basically, there is a larger strategy at work that is broken down in smaller strategies. And without that your business can’t grow because you can’t know what to do next.

What Mistakes are Made

One of the problems I see most often is that business owners create products or an offer THEY themselves are in love with. And because it took a lot of time, money, and energy they are now attached to THIS product. Even if it doesn’t sell, they still insist it works.

Here is the issue, if you do not enter the conversation inside your
prospects mind and reverse engineer their needs into a product – your
offer cannot sell. 

That’s why reviewing what you offer and how it is packaged is critical to ensure that it solves your prospects problem. 

Despite warnings to get rich in the niche I chose to stick with what I know how to do best. That is designing growth plans and strategies and creating systems that build your authority and scale your impact. You need someone who understands the big picture, different strategies and business models. For me it’s easy because I do this so much that I can pinpoint what is different when I hear it and my team works with personality assessments so that we always know how our clients operate.

The strategy has to fit the person. Don’t go speak if you have a fear of public speaking (unless it’s your strategy to overcome it.) You need strategy in your business and the sooner you’ll have one, the sooner you’ll achieve your desired results. There is a great saying “If you don’t know where you are going, any way will get you there.” Let’s not do that. Please.

And we love developing strategies here at The Growth Architect and we always add new ones. Because sometimes a strategy doesn’t work anymore because an algorithm has been changed. This is I what I did when I build my own business and then sold it to Bill Gates
